Nacht II is a musical project in which multiple voices dialogue: from lyric to groll… with electronic music with textures as abrasive as they are atmospheric, and snippets of minimal, monochrome generative images.
A synesthetic and contemplative proposition, Nacht invites spectators to what at first glance might seem like an initiatory experience, a ritual that gradually transforms into a physical, sensory experience in which the environment, the landscape and the elements are an inexhaustible source of inspiration, an echoing extension of creativity.
The performance is conceived as a phantasmagorical journey through a constantly evolving movement in which all the elements – sound, body, light, environment – interact to create an unpredictable universe. Conceived to express the idea of the transformation of the universe through song, the singer is here the focal point of this transformation, with his song rising to crystallize a new living, intentional form of the Nacht II universe.
The d’Autres Cordes company, founded in 2009 by Franck Vigroux, is dedicated to contemporary musical creation, combining electronics, experimental music and live performance. Under the direction of this protean composer and performer, their works combine powerful sound textures, visual installations and varied artistic collaborations. Thanks to a transdisciplinary approach integrating theater, dance and video, the company pursues a quest for immersive experiences, constantly renewing its musical language and asserting an identity resolutely focused on sound innovation.
As a musician, he stages his music in a variety of ways, from concerts to total shows. Refusing to confine himself to a particular genre, he multiplies aesthetic and formal experiments.
He collaborates with authors, choreographers and digital artists. His music ranges from purely electronic pulses to long, abstract pieces. His records are released by labels such as Aesthetical and Raster Media.
Loïc Varanguien de Villepin is an artist trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Bordeaux in Lyric and Dramatic Arts between 1996 and 2000. Since then, he has pursued his training as a singer and actor through workshops with professionals such as Yoshito Ohno and Claudia Triozzi. In 2001, he and Romain Jarry founded the Compagnie des Limbes, for which they have directed over twenty plays, focusing on the creation of a “theater of the poem”. Loïc Varanguien de Villepin has also acted in several plays in recent years, including Copi’s “Les Quatres Jumelles” and Sarah Kane’s “Crave”. As a singer, he specializes in the classical repertoire as a contralto, but also explores baroque and contemporary repertoire. Since 2012, he has turned to vocal performance with electronic music composers, working in particular on noise and the imitation of birdsong. In 2015, he created Les Bazis, an artist residency in Ariège offering an experimental space for performance and dance in the heart of the Pyrenean forest.
As a visual artist, Antoine Schmitt creates works in the form of objects, installations and situations, tirelessly questioning the dynamic interactions between human nature and the nature of reality. With a precise, minimal aesthetic, he poses the question of movement, its causes and its forms, using the program as a contemporary artistic material. He has collaborated with artists in more established artistic fields such as dance, music, film, architecture and literature, and has received several awards at international festivals. His reputation is such that he is represented by Galerie Charlot (Paris) and DAM Projects (Berlin). Antoine Schmitt lives and works in Paris.
